Prenatal Massage FAQs

Have questions about massage during pregnancy? Here are answers to some of the most common questions before booking a prenatal massage at Tacora.

When can I get a prenatal massage?

Tacora offers prenatal massage for clients who are 13 weeks pregnant or later. If you’re earlier in your pregnancy, wait until you’ve reached 13 weeks before scheduling a prenatal massage with us.

Can I lie face down during a prenatal massage?

Often, yes. Tacora has a specialized pregnancy cushion with a belly cutout designed to comfortably support your body while lying face down. Whether it’s comfortable can vary from person to person and throughout pregnancy, so your therapist can adjust your positioning as needed.

Do I need permission from my doctor before getting a prenatal massage?

For most routine pregnancies, we don’t require a doctor’s note to book prenatal massage. However, if you have pregnancy complications, medical concerns, or have been advised to limit certain activities or treatments, talk with your healthcare provider before scheduling.

Is prenatal massage different from a regular massage?

Yes. The massage is adapted for pregnancy, including positioning and consideration of your changing comfort and needs. Pressure and areas of focus are still customized to you, just as they are during our other massage services.

Can I get a prenatal massage late in my pregnancy?

Prenatal massage can be available later in pregnancy as long as massage remains appropriate for you and you’re comfortable receiving it. Let us know about any concerns or changes in your pregnancy before your appointment.
